Physician Associate Students
We have Physician Associate students training here
The role of the Physician Associate (PA) is rapidly growing within the NHS. Physician Associates work alongside doctors in hospitals and GP surgeries.
Physician Associates support doctors in the diagnosis and management of patients.
They students are learning to:
- Conduct consultations
- Examine patients
- Undertake procedures
- Diagnose & treat conditions
As students, Physician Associates have to complete clinical placements in General Practice. They also undertake training in Hospitals, so you may also encounter them there.
If you would prefer not to be seen by a Physician Associate student or have them present during your consultation with the GP or nurse then please let the receptionist know.
If you are seen by a Physician Associate student you will then be seen by a qualified member of staff prior to leaving the surgery.
If you have any questions about the role then please ask the student or GP during your consultation.
